If I were a groundhog

There was a song on the Morning Show today (after I should have been out of bed, of course) that encapsulates all my heartfelt desires in this temperature-challenged season. Norm Walker sings the story of a groundhog who really ought to get up and go outside to check for shadows, but can't seem to get around to it.

The Groundhog's Day, by Norm Walker

There was no shortage of shadows today: bright and sunny, resulting in minus 12 degrees. Brrr! But the threat of six more weeks of winter rings false in Newfoundlanders' minds: the middle of March would be an early spring indeed. If the snow's not all gone in ten weeks' time, then we might have some cause for complaint.
