Off into the world My babies have gone to daycare this week, for the first time in an all-day camp. (Insert emotion-filled nostalgia here. I'm fine with it, really.) We figured it wasn't really fair to keep them home when Bob is still mobility-impaired - can't take them to the park, to friends' houses, anything - so Happy Times, the preschool in Cochrane Street Church, was called upon to keep them busy. Quite a few schoolmates and neighbours use the centre during the year, since it's handy, and it's got a good reputation. And they walk or take Metrobus everywhere! In the first two days they went to Lion's Club Park on Bonaventure Avenue and toured Coast 101.1 FM on the way, and took the bus to the Railway Coastal Museum and Victoria Park. They spend a lot of time in Bannerman Park, too. Friday they're going swimming. The girls LOVE it, which I'm grateful for. Next week Bob's sister's family will be home from Ontario, so they'll spend the week with them; and after that, (we hope) Bob will be pretty much back to normal. I don't begrudge the centre their reasonable fee - I'm sure the staff are underpaid for the work they do - but boy, keeping them in camp all summer would cost THOUSANDS. Got better uses for the money, like not incurring interest charges on it.
